White Sox looking to keep ace Buehrle well rested (AP)
Chicago White Sox ace Mark Buehrle won't have his second start of spring training until next Monday as the club seeks to keep him rested before the regular season begins. Buehrle made his first start on March 5 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, allowing an unearned run on three hits with two strikeouts over two innings.

White Sox Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

Last time manager Ozzie Guillen checked, Gordon Beckham was still wearing a White Sox uniform, Paul Konerko was still his team captain and first baseman, and Guillen was still set on his DH-by-committee plan this season.

No matter how much the rumor mill wants to churn up rumors about a trade with San Diego that would send Adrian Gonzalez to the Sox for a package headlined by Beckham, Guillen wasn't seeing it.

"Right now, the expectation about this guy and that guy, I like the team we have," Guillen reiterated. "We have a general manager (in Ken Williams) who keeps things quiet, thank God. And when he makes deals, it's for a reason. But we plan to have Gordon for a long time. I don't see why people are still talking about it."

Not just fans, either.

Sheets gets his work in as A's fall to White Sox (AP)

Oakland Athletics' Ben Sheets(notes) throws warm up pitches before facing the Chicago White Sox in the first inning of a spring training baseball game in Phoenix, Ariz., Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

Ben Sheets still looks like a pitcher who hasn't worked at the big league level in nearly a year and a half. His command isn't quite there and his fastball velocity is slightly down. He is unfazed, because Sheets has never been one to post big spring numbers. Oakland's new $10 million ace still considered his short outing in a 9-5 loss Wednesday to the Chicago White Sox a step in the...

Vizquel plans to stick around for a few more years (Yahoo! Sports)
Chicago White Sox infielder Omar Vizquel will be 43 in April but he apparently isn't planning to call it...

Giants' DeRosa looks good in first spring outing (AP)

Chicago White Sox' Juan Pierre(notes), left, is congratulated by manager Ozzie Guillen after scoring against the San Francisco Giants in the first inning of a spring training baseball game in Scottsdale, Ariz., Tuesday, March 9, 2010.

One pitch, one swing and Mark DeRosa showed the kind of threat he can be for San Francisco's offense. DeRosa lined a sharp single over shortstop Omar Vizquel's head in his debut at-bat after being limited following October wrist surgery, and the Giants beat the Chicago White Sox 6-2 on Tuesday.

Youthful Omar Vizquel will play as long as he can (AP)
Omar Vizquel strutted into Scottsdale Stadium from the center-field entrance like a confident 20-something and gave a little point to some former San Francisco teammates. He may as well still be in his baseball prime. Vizquel insists he feels that good physically, and mentally he still considers himself among the best shortstops in the game -- even if he's going on 43 and no longer a regular...

White Sox fall to Mariners split squad in 5-4 loss (AP)
A pair of center fielders made their spring training debuts on the field Monday, but it was Alex Rios who had the better day. Rios, who has been in the White Sox lineup only once this spring because of a sore right shoulder, went 2 for 2 with a mammoth home run to deep center field in Chicago's 5-4 loss to a Seattle Mariners split squad.

Cubs-White Sox spring game washed out (AP)
His start canceled by rain, Jake Peavy sat in front of a computer and sang while strumming his guitar. Peavy was practicing for the Woodjock Jam Fest, a charity event this Wednesday in Scottsdale, Ariz. On the field he's getting ready for what he hopes will be a healthy season. After the Chicago White Sox game Sunday against the Cubs was canceled because of rain, the right-hander threw 45...

White Sox P Garcia works 2 innings against Dodgers (AP)
Freddy Garcia, in line to be the Chicago White Sox's fifth starter, gave up a run in his first two innings of the spring to lead the way in a 8-4 split-squad victory Saturday over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jered Mitchell, the White Sox's 2009 first-round draft pick, had a pair of RBI doubles and scored three runs.

Quentin homers twice as White Sox beat Cubs (AP)

Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, left, and Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella, right, greet one another prior to their MLB spring training baseball game Saturday, March 6, 2010, in Mesa, Ariz.

Carlos Quentin reminded everybody back in Chicago just how dangerous he can be when he's pain-free. Quentin homered on his first two at-bats and drove in five runs Saturday, leading a White Sox split squad to a 15-3 victory over the Cubs in the first of five spring exhibitions between the intracity rivals.

Marcum strong in 1st Jays outing since '08 (CBC.ca)
Shaun Marcum began his comeback to a Big League mound on Saturday, throwing two strong innings against the New York Yankees in Florida.

Vicente Padilla sharp in spring debut for Dodgers (AP)

Los Angeles Dodgers' Chin-lung Hu(notes) (60) seals second basebse as Chicago White Sox shortstop Brent Lillibridge(notes) dives for the throw in the ninth inning of a spring training baseball game Friday, March 5, 2010, in Glendale, Ariz.

Vicente Padilla threw two hitless innings and Reed Johnson drove in a pair of runs, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to an 8-3 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday. The Dodgers played most of their projected starters in their spring training opener at Camelback Ranch. Regular left fielder Manny Ramirez was the designated hitter and had a pair of singles in three at-bats.

Angels and White Sox tied 4-4 when game is called (AP)
Chicago's A.J. Pierzynski hit a two-run homer to highlight a three-run third inning, and Los Angeles catcher Mike Napoli also homered as the White Sox and Angels played to a 4-4 tie Thursday before the Cactus League opener for both teams was called after nine innings. Chicago left-hander John Danks played his first professional game with brother Jordan Danks, who started in right field, and...

Guillen has shuffling plans for White Sox lineup (AP)
Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen plans to play outfielder-designated hitter Andruw Jones against left-handed pitchers this season. Beyond that, the White Sox lineup could included any combination of Jones, Mark Kotsay, Juan Pierre and Alex Rios in left field, center field and at DH. Kotsay will be in the lineup at first base against some right-handers to spell Paul Konerko.

Gavin Floyd pitches 2 innings in practice game (AP)
Gavin Floyd was efficient while Chicago White Sox teammate Daniel Cabrera was wild once again Tuesday during a practice game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers won 4-2 in a seven-inning game at the spring training complex they share. Both teams play their exhibition openers later this week. Floyd gave up one hit, two walks and hit a batter.

Freddy Garcia back with White Sox (AP)
The Chicago White Sox still believe in Freddy Garcia, even though he's won just five games the past three seasons. Garcia, who has made only 23 major league starts since the 2007 season began, is slated to be Chicago's fifth starter two years after surgery on his right throwing shoulder. The 33-year-old showed the White Sox he still has some life in that arm, going 3-2 with a 3.66 earned...

Career NL player Pierre adjusts to life in the AL (AP)
Juan Pierre is on a new team, in a new league -- and back at the same spring training complex as last year. The outfielder for the Chicago White Sox returned to Camelback Ranch, where he can see his former teammates just a few fields over. Pierre was ready to remain with the Los Angeles Dodger, even though he had been bumped down to the fourth outfielder's spot since Manny Ramirez arrived in...
