White Sox Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

What would a White Sox spring training be without some controversy?

But instead of manager Ozzie Guillen throwing one of his players under a bus or general manager Ken Williams looking to make a splashy trade, this one has to do with the organization doing what it can to try to keep Guillen away from the social media world.

After Guillen's Twitter account made so much news during the first week of camp, the plan was for him to also have his own website. The website seemed to be the last straw, however.

Guillen confirmed on March 11 that while his Twitter account and Facebook page were allowed to stay up and running—although only after a talk with his general manager about the subject matter—the idea of Guillen having his own website has been shot down...

Stern's triple lifts Brewers over White Sox 7-2 (AP)
Dave Bush is unsure what his coaches want to see from him this month as he makes his bid for the final spot in the Milwaukee Brewers' rotation. His outing on Saturday might have helped his cause. The right-hander threw 45 pitches and allowed a run and three hits in four innings, helping the Brewers defeat the Chicago White Sox 7-2 in a split-squad game for both teams.

Cubs edge White Sox 8-7 (AP)
Ryan Dempster and the Chicago Cubs handled a stiff breeze to slip past their rivals from the Windy City. Dempster, who is expected to grab a spot as one of the Cubs' top three starting pitchers, allowed one hit in three innings. He struck out two, walked none and allowed no earned runs and the Cubs earned an 8-7 win over the White Sox on Saturday.

White Sox OF Mitchell to have ankle surgery (AP)
Chicago White Sox outfielder Jared Mitchell is going to have surgery to repair a torn tendon in his left ankle. The team said on Saturday that the operation is set for Tuesday. Mitchell was injured while making a catch in a spring training game Friday. He left the game on a cart after crashing hard into the wall at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

Cubs' Gorzelanny has strong outing (AP)
Tom Gorzelanny proved he could pitch out of a jam, even though it was one of his own creation. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound left-hander held the Chicago White Sox to no hits over the first three innings of the Cubs' 6-5 victory Friday night. Gorzelanny, who joined the team last season, left after three innings with the Cubs leading 3-1.

Peavy looks sharp in first start for White Sox (AP)
Jake Peavy's first spring training outing looked more like a regular-season start. He was that sharp, and showed no signs of fatigue from jamming at his late-night "Woodjock" charity concert Thursday that drew some 1,200 people. The Chicago White Sox also looked impressive at the plate in a 10-7 victory against the Los Angeles Angels on Friday, getting two-run homers from Gordon...

White Sox prospect Mitchell hurt (AP)
Chicago White Sox outfield prospect Jared Mitchell sprained his right ankle while making a spectacular, against-the-wall catch on a drive off the bat of Juan Rivera in a 10-7 split-squad win over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday. Mitchell was carted off the field and taken to the hospital for X-rays.

Indians, White Sox play to 5-all tie after 10 (AP)
Twitter sensation Ozzie Guillen's plan for his own Web site was nixed by the White Sox front office, Guillen said Thursday. No problem for the Chicago manager, who said he just wanted to have another forum through which to have fun. Guillen spoke on the Web site matter after the White Sox and Cleveland Indians called off their exhibition game Thursday with the scored tied at 5 after 10 innings.

White Sox looking to keep ace Buehrle well rested (AP)
Chicago White Sox ace Mark Buehrle won't have his second start of spring training until next Monday as the club seeks to keep him rested before the regular season begins. Buehrle made his first start on March 5 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, allowing an unearned run on three hits with two strikeouts over two innings.

Sheets gets his work in as A's fall to White Sox (AP)

Oakland Athletics' Ben Sheets(notes) throws warm up pitches before facing the Chicago White Sox in the first inning of a spring training baseball game in Phoenix, Ariz., Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

Ben Sheets still looks like a pitcher who hasn't worked at the big league level in nearly a year and a half. His command isn't quite there and his fastball velocity is slightly down. He is unfazed, because Sheets has never been one to post big spring numbers. Oakland's new $10 million ace still considered his short outing in a 9-5 loss Wednesday to the Chicago White Sox a step in the...

Vizquel plans to stick around for a few more years (Yahoo! Sports)
Chicago White Sox infielder Omar Vizquel will be 43 in April but he apparently isn't planning to call it...

Giants' DeRosa looks good in first spring outing (AP)

Chicago White Sox' Juan Pierre(notes), left, is congratulated by manager Ozzie Guillen after scoring against the San Francisco Giants in the first inning of a spring training baseball game in Scottsdale, Ariz., Tuesday, March 9, 2010.

One pitch, one swing and Mark DeRosa showed the kind of threat he can be for San Francisco's offense. DeRosa lined a sharp single over shortstop Omar Vizquel's head in his debut at-bat after being limited following October wrist surgery, and the Giants beat the Chicago White Sox 6-2 on Tuesday.

Youthful Omar Vizquel will play as long as he can (AP)
Omar Vizquel strutted into Scottsdale Stadium from the center-field entrance like a confident 20-something and gave a little point to some former San Francisco teammates. He may as well still be in his baseball prime. Vizquel insists he feels that good physically, and mentally he still considers himself among the best shortstops in the game -- even if he's going on 43 and no longer a regular...

White Sox fall to Mariners split squad in 5-4 loss (AP)
A pair of center fielders made their spring training debuts on the field Monday, but it was Alex Rios who had the better day. Rios, who has been in the White Sox lineup only once this spring because of a sore right shoulder, went 2 for 2 with a mammoth home run to deep center field in Chicago's 5-4 loss to a Seattle Mariners split squad.

White Sox P Garcia works 2 innings against Dodgers (AP)
Freddy Garcia, in line to be the Chicago White Sox's fifth starter, gave up a run in his first two innings of the spring to lead the way in a 8-4 split-squad victory Saturday over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jered Mitchell, the White Sox's 2009 first-round draft pick, had a pair of RBI doubles and scored three runs.

Quentin homers twice as White Sox beat Cubs (AP)

Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, left, and Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella, right, greet one another prior to their MLB spring training baseball game Saturday, March 6, 2010, in Mesa, Ariz.

Carlos Quentin reminded everybody back in Chicago just how dangerous he can be when he's pain-free. Quentin homered on his first two at-bats and drove in five runs Saturday, leading a White Sox split squad to a 15-3 victory over the Cubs in the first of five spring exhibitions between the intracity rivals.

Marcum strong in 1st Jays outing since '08 (CBC.ca)
Shaun Marcum began his comeback to a Big League mound on Saturday, throwing two strong innings against the New York Yankees in Florida.

Vicente Padilla sharp in spring debut for Dodgers (AP)

Los Angeles Dodgers' Chin-lung Hu(notes) (60) seals second basebse as Chicago White Sox shortstop Brent Lillibridge(notes) dives for the throw in the ninth inning of a spring training baseball game Friday, March 5, 2010, in Glendale, Ariz.

Vicente Padilla threw two hitless innings and Reed Johnson drove in a pair of runs, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to an 8-3 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday. The Dodgers played most of their projected starters in their spring training opener at Camelback Ranch. Regular left fielder Manny Ramirez was the designated hitter and had a pair of singles in three at-bats.

Angels and White Sox tied 4-4 when game is called (AP)
Chicago's A.J. Pierzynski hit a two-run homer to highlight a three-run third inning, and Los Angeles catcher Mike Napoli also homered as the White Sox and Angels played to a 4-4 tie Thursday before the Cactus League opener for both teams was called after nine innings. Chicago left-hander John Danks played his first professional game with brother Jordan Danks, who started in right field, and...

Guillen has shuffling plans for White Sox lineup (AP)
Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen plans to play outfielder-designated hitter Andruw Jones against left-handed pitchers this season. Beyond that, the White Sox lineup could included any combination of Jones, Mark Kotsay, Juan Pierre and Alex Rios in left field, center field and at DH. Kotsay will be in the lineup at first base against some right-handers to spell Paul Konerko.

Gavin Floyd pitches 2 innings in practice game (AP)
Gavin Floyd was efficient while Chicago White Sox teammate Daniel Cabrera was wild once again Tuesday during a practice game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers won 4-2 in a seven-inning game at the spring training complex they share. Both teams play their exhibition openers later this week. Floyd gave up one hit, two walks and hit a batter.
