HOW MANY TIMES HAVE THE DODGERS WON THE WORLD SERIES?

Since the inception of the modern World Series in 1903, the Dodgers, first in Brooklyn and then in Los Angeles, have won the World Series six times.  They are fifth on the list of World Series championships, behind the New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox.  Their victories are:

  • In 1955:  as the Brooklyn Dodgers, against the New York Yankees, four games to three
  • In 1959:  after moving to Los Angeles, against the Chicago White Sox, four games to two
  • In 1963:  against the New York Yankees, four games to zero
  • In 1965:  against the Minnesota Twins, four games to three
  • In 1981:  against the New York Yankees, four games to two
  • In 1988:  against the Oakland Athletics, four games to one.

They won the National League pennant but lost the World Series, as the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1916, 1920, 1941, 1947, 1949, 1952, 1953 and 1956, and then, after their move to Los Angeles, in 1966, 1974, 1977 and 1978.
