Rangers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Manager Ron Washington has taken the tough-love approach with second-year shortstop Elvis Andrus.
The manager wants to ensure that the 21-year-old, who finished second in the AL Rookie of the Year balloting, doesn't take anything for granted.
So when he saw Andrus taking work a little too lightly for his liking, he singled him out for some criticism. Washington spoke to Andrus privately but also detailed his frustrations for the media.
After Andrus made another weak throw during an exhibition game, Washington went a little further. He suggested he might pull Andrus off the field after another lazy-looking throw.
"He hasn't gotten his game going the way he'd like to," Washington said.
